8 Aug 2010 It's timely to remind you of the hollow words and empty promises of Mike KELLY prior to the 2007 election No doubt Mike KELLY has hoped that his media release has gone MIA but youse can read a copy of it here Youse can read his maiden speech here and of note is: "I am also highly conscious of the fact that I am the only war veteran represented in parliament since the retirement of Graham Edwards. I feel a particular responsibility to be a voice for our veteran and ex-service community in this government. I serve fair warning to my colleagues that I will be an extremely persistent and annoying advocate on behalf of that community. Many veterans are looking to us now after bitter disappointments, and we must consolidate ourselves as the party they should naturally look to by not letting them down." Mike KELLY has unfortunately done little if anything to answer his earlier promises at the last election... I have corresponded with many on the veteran community side of the debate who confirm that Mike KELLY has done little if anything to engage the veteran community and his claims to have entered into a meaningful debate and engagement with the Ex Service Organisations are yet another lie that I hope will return to haunt him Mike KELLY has of course peered of the parapet with a few newspaper articles recently but these merely quote the Labor Party line that the Mathews Report has not recommended fair indexation even though he knows that the Mathews Report is built on incorrect assumptions and flawed data ! Over to youse but I and everybody else in the debate is certain that Mike KELLY could have and should have done far more... his abject failure to achieve so little against his earlier promises means that he must be outed and that the Coalition be allowed to push forward to allow this to be resolved once and for all 4 Aug 2010 I'll upload Mike KELLY's press releases detailing his broken promises later today You may remember that Mike KELLY rode home at the last election on the back of his hollow words and empty promises to the veteran community at the 2007 Federal Election He's recently peeked over the parapet to offer the usual belated party line on his earlier words - none of which mention what he could have or should have done... I urge that you take a particular effort to vote Mike KELLY out of Parliament at the upcoming 2010 Federal Election - to be betrayed by one of our own leaves a very bad taste in my mouth 18 Jul 2010 An open letter to Mike KELLY I have wrestled long and hard with my conscience about what to say here but it has finally struck me that you need to be outed... Deep in your heart you know that you stand as an obstacle to the fair indexation of 80000 DFRB/DFRDB members who suffer under the harsh realities of unjust indexation - tens of thousands of beneficiaries who barely tread water trying to afford life's daily necessities doomed to a beggars banquet of bread and dripping because of your failure to advance the cause of fair indexation Deep in your heart you also know that the courageous Coalition response to introduce fair indexation to DFRB/DFRDB mbrs over 55 yo will have a flow-on effect to serving and discharged MSBS milsuper mbrs and also a flow-on effect to all superannuated Commonwealth public servants (with both of these groups also currently suffering under the harsh realities on unjust indexation) - again, you stand as an obstacle to end the suffering of these hundreds of thousands of decent hard working Australians who have sacrificed so much of their lives in the service of our great Nation If you cannot adequately represent your constituency it's time to handover to someone who will listen to and do something about the needs of not only the veteran community but to all Commonwealth superannuees You've privately told the National President of *** that you only intended a short-term career in politics and it is timely that you now depart so that the needs of your constituency can be properly addressed by those that are willing to take action I was going to quote snippets from your maiden speech which gave the veteran community so many high hopes and expectations... I was going to quote snippets of your press releases of your hollow promises and empty words prior to the last Federal election... I was going to quote snippets from your response to the Mathews report as well as your backflip on those comments All of your hollow promises and empty words are easily found on Google and there appears no need to quote them rather tis best that you be seen as an obstacle to fair indexation and that you must be outed In the words of another who wore the Royal Crest and the gorget patches "Lead, follow or get out of the way" |
