Home News Must Read Your Say 2010 Federal Election OUT Mike KELLY

Welcome to my MILSUPER website - its time you looked under the hood of this vehicle and red stickered it and sent an urgent EMEFIX

Our Mission

To ignite a debate on likely MILSUPER changes and to encourage military members to take a closer look at an issue that is over the horizon to most before it becomes too late and no OPDEM can save the situation...

16 Jul 2010

Just discharged from hospital following a pain management admission...

I really need to rest and recover but the fair indexation campaign is at too much at risk if I do not try and find the time to weave in critical update/s so important updates will flow gradually today and tomorrow

Some urgent despatches from the Western Front, update/s on the 2010 Federal Election webpage where the current state of play is that you have no option but to vote for the Coalition to resolve fair indexation in a once in a generation opportunity, and the OUT WITH Mike KELLY webpage

I'm still hopeful of more policy backflips from the Labor Party but they have bluntly told the National President of the *** that they have answered their 2007 pre-election commitments and promises to fair indexation by commissioning the Mathews Report which essentially produced little if anything and they have slammed the door shut at this moment on any hope of fair indexation

It's high time you took some urgent action to remind the Labor Party of the political folly of their decision to ignore us... I ask that you start using your mobile to send a BLIZZARD of SMS text messages to the editor of your newspaper/s to tell them just how our retired mbrs are suffering after 20 + years of unjust indexation

I'd ask that youse light up the switchboards at DFWA demanding that they help youse organise picketing, placarding and leafleting at your local electorate offices and shopping centres - things are only going to happen if you stomp the accelerator pedal to the floor and time is running out !

And if you do nothing - there's an incoming generation of retiring serving members and other MSBS contributors who will also suffer a beggar's banquet of bread and dripping as their just reward for many years of loyal and dedicated service

If you haven't suffered yet you will and it's time to take off the gloves, throw away the rulebook and get political otherwise your future wellbeing and welfare will go down the tubes just like our DFRB/DFRDB colleagues

*** UPDATE ***

WARNING ORDER - see 2010 Federal Election webpage

27 Jun 2010

Heartfelt congratulations to David JAMISON and his team at DFWA for a breakthrough in the DFRB/DFRDB indexation arrangements -see the DFWA media release here

Read more on the 2010 Federal Election webpage

Unfortunately - more needs to be done to mirror this for MSBS members - the coalition joint media release suggests this is not far away...

Just the other day I said watch this space for policy backflips

Some will see this as a cynical attempt to buy votes at the upcoming Federal election if the coalition does not address the many other critical issues hurting the veteran community when the coalition now so clearly states their commitment to real action to support our veterans

But this is a historic and welcome announcement and must spur the Labor party into bipartisan action

To any and all who have helped to push this barrow to this rightful conclusion my sincere thanks

No doubt you've been watching the developing political news tonite...

Not only a few weeks ago ****.***.** telephoned me privately on the way home from chemotherapy where I expressed an opinion we would do far better to force the Labor Party to perform rather than trust the opposition

I've updated the 2010 Federal Election webpage tonite - there's been little to say in the up until now stalemate with both major parties circling each other waiting for a mistake to attack one another... and very little announcement of any upcoming election policy platform

I have been privately concerned that the indexation debate and the marginal seats campaign stemming therefrom had dropped off the map in terms of the larger economic issues seeming to dominate the upcoming election but tonite gives me new hope that the continued implosion of the sitting Government can be leveraged in our favour - until now I was concerned there was a growing feeling that the political parties could ignore us because of the larger economic themes headlining the election

I ask that you continue to write to your elected members - I have said that it has never been more critical to do so...

It gives us our best chance to move forwards as the Defence Force Welfare Association continues to lobby the political parties and reminds the party rooms that we are not a spent force and can only be ignored at their peril

I now have a renewed hope that the Government will offer an olive branch of PBLCI indexation to stave off fair indexation becoming a burning political issue that will affect the marginal seats campaign

I ask that you step up the tempo - mash the accelerator pedal to the floor - and continue to write to your elected representatives reminding them of this festering political sore that has for far too long been a moral and philosophical obligation that must be remedied before it turns into an albatross around their necks

I for one will not be disappointed if Rudd falls tomorrow - he promised too much on fair indexation and other genuine veteran community concerns at the last election to deserve any continuing support now unless he himself or others step up to the mark

I'm overdue for an important update... I've promised to do this for a week or so now but have been unwell enough that I have deferred it until now

My sincere thanks to DFWA for allowing me to use document resources available on their website at http://www.dfwa.org.au

My sincere thanks to David, Les, Rob, Ted and many others for your support and encouragement in this difficult year for me

Update is via the 2010 Federal Election tab on the left

And my congratulations to the RAAF Association for their excellent website at fairgo4veterans

I'll summarise by reminding readers that the marginal seats campaign continues and you should return to the DFWA website from time to time for an update to the campaign. Now more than ever as the Rudd Government implodes from within it has never been more important to join DFWA and volunteer your time and effort. It is also mission critical for you to write to your elected representatives asking what they are doing to resolve the indexation issue once and for all, particularly if you can provide examples of hardships suffered by the exservice community from inadequate indexation. These letters weave their way to the Party Rooms and as the panic about opinion polls continues, it is hoped that the Rudd Government will offer an olive branch of fair and adequate indexation to stop this turning into a burning political issue before the election

Minor but critically important update...

My webcounter is spinning like a drunken sailor but there is a huge difference between just viewing my website and actually doing something purposeful and useful

You know that my mantra of IF YOU DON'T FIGHT YOU LOSE rings true

It has never been more mission critical to join DFWA and volunteer your time and effort with the indexation debate. The dividend you will receive from the measly few bucks of membership is priceless and you can bask in the warm glow of a job well done

Pass on my message and mantra, walk with me as I march to meet my maker, trust the DFWA leadership and more importantly decide to act rather than passively watch from the sidelines

The only way we can fail is if you choose to ignore this message - and if so you will forever regret your actions

Some unfortunate news for me - more on the News webpage

I'll "soon" become too unwell to continue to urge the debate but I ask that you maintain the rage on my behalf and more particularly for my wife and children who will ultimately benefit from resolution of the indexation issue

I'd remind you that in a Federal election year and the climate of the marginal seats debate - the indexation issue is winnable, even now political lobbying puts it within our grasp

The only way we can falter or fall is if we fail to mesh in a coordinated manner with each peak or other ex-service organisation paddling their own canoe

I'd urge that you join DFWA and volunteer your services and available time so you can bask in the glow of a job well done

I'd remind you that I do not support the many veteran forums that urge you to vote for the sitting member last and the "opposition" member second-last. This in my opinion is counter-productive and can only return the current Government

Finally - I'd urge all in Government to extend an olive branch now. The pragmatic approach is for the Government to offer a solution of PBLCI indexation NOW to save this turning into a festering political sore and becoming a burning political issue at election time. Some may say that we should fight to the end to achieve MTAWE indexation but I take the view that this is unachievable and that we should accept PBLCI as a pragmatic solution. I have based much of my opinion on the CPSU campaign on PSSAP and they too achieved a pragmatic solution by and large to save the matter turning into a festering political sore

This may indeed be my last post and I urge that you continue the fight in a coordinated and structured way through DFWA - anything else can only mean that you lose

UPDATE - ALL ARMS CALL FOR FIRE SUPPORT

30 Dec 09

Not what I wish to hear for the new year but...

Some of us are hearing snippets that "Department of Finance is pressing Defence for the adoption of all the recommendations in the Military Super Review Report. If this were to happen it would be a big rollback of conditions of service. We are working hard to see that this doesn't happen but there is that possibility."

Please read the News and Must Read webpages

It's well overdue for you to contact the peak exservice organisations to urgently lobby in the political mainstream

It's only in a pre-election and marginal electorate setting that we have any hope of resolving this debate in our favour

It would be ironic if some of those who earlier promised so much but have now backpedalled frantically fell off their perches in the political upheaval (did I hear you say Mike KELLY ???)

Please note that this website is most definitely under construction
